Photo Glimpse: Details of Wat Phra Kaew

Wat Phra Kaew

Out of all the beautiful temples I visited in Bangkok, Wat Phra Kaew was by far the most spectacular. This massive temple complex is an overwhelming combination of fine details and colours that took my breath away. I couldn’t help but be taken in by the mystique created by the intricate glittering gold, blue, orange, red and green mosaics.  I spent hours staring in awe as I sat under any piece of shade I could find, escaping the thick humid heat of midday Bangkok in July.

Wat Phra Kaew is the most sacred Buddhist temple in all of Thailand and is home to the Emerald Buddha an important symbol at the centre of Thai Buddhism.  The massive temple complex covers an area of 94.5 hectares and is contained within The Grand Palace walls rooting the monarch to their Buddhist beliefs.
