San Antonio Weekend Getaway for Couples

[ 0 ] October 31, 2012 |

San Antonio Christmas

One of the most popular cities in Texas for couples is San Antonio. It offers romance with plenty to see and do during your trip. You can take a tour of historical sites as well as take in the area culture. When you plan a trip to San Antonio, look for cheap flights on www.flights24.com for the lowest rates.

During your stay, there are several must-do activities that you will want to check off your list:

Take a Stroll down the River Walk

The winding San Antonio River was made for romantic walks. It draws thousands of visitors each year. It is lined with shops, restaurants and hotels ready to serve patrons late in the evenings. When you want to stop for a break from your walk, find a spot to sit and do a little people-watching. You can also embark on a River Walk cruise to learn more about landmarks and area history. For a more private trip down river, you two can also hop into a river taxi.

Steal a Kiss on Selena’s Bridge

The Selena Bridge was nicknamed for the famous Tejana singer. It spans the River Walk between the Watermark and Omni La Mansion del Rio hotels. It is a quaint arched bridge that many couples love to stop on for a photo op, get engaged or simply stop for a lingering kiss.

Take a Walk to Marriage Island

Another popular spot in San Antonio for proposals and small wedding ceremonies is Marriage Island, off of the River Walk. At the center of the island is a huge Montezuma cypress with two stone benches surrounding it. Perfect for popping an important question or just sitting close together for a little hand-holding.

Stop at HemisFair Park

HemisFair Park was constructed in 1968 when San Antonio hosted the World’s Fair. It has been made over into a lush landscape, full of flowers, large shade trees and beautiful waterfalls. You can also see some attractions from the past, including the 750-foot tall Tower of the Americas. The Tower houses the Chart House restaurant as well to satisfy your appetite at the end of your exploration.

Hop On a Carriage Ride

One of the best ways to see San Antonio with someone special is from the back of a horse-drawn carriage. It is a great way to spend part of the evening, giving you both a chance to slow down and take in the scenery without having to use up too much energy.

Downtown San Antonio

San Antonio is a city that draws couples on their romantic weekend getaways from all over the country. It is one of the spots that should not be missed.
